THE Vice President of Yewa Secondary School Old Students’ Association (YESSOSA), Niyi Damilola Ojekunle and other members of the old students association at the weekend celebrated the appointment of the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Adeola Adeniji.

Ojekunle, an engineer, said the association decided to host the new DIG, an old student also, because of his invaluable contributions to the progress of the school and the association.

“We are celebrating him because he has just been promoted to the post of DIG. He has been one of the pillars of the association. Anytime we ask of his help, he is always there for us. He has made us proud.”

He recalled that being the first person to attain that position is also commendable. “He has been a source of encouragement to other students.”

He said his alma mater was one of the most popular secondary schools with good boarding facilities in Nigeria in the past.

“Those of us that attended Methodist Schools in Lagos went to Yewa Secondary School in Igbogila, Ogun State”.

Mr. Olu Agemo, the first student of the school with number 001 in 1957 also spoke glowingly of the new DIG.

“I speak as the first old student and the most elderly among them. I am happy because he is celebrating happiness. If you are elevated, you are happy. Once you are happy, it means you are moving towards longevity.”

“I am a lover of Adeola Adeniji. He is a humble man. He is very responsible, therefore, it worth celebrating him and his progress.”

The new DIG, Adeola Adeniji, said he was pleased to be in the midst of his alma mater and to be recognised.
