The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), yesterday, said that no fewer than 120 shops and 200 people were affected by last week’s inferno at Bodija market.
South-West Zonal Co-ordinator of NEMA, Saheed Akiode, who disclosed this in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, said the agency conducted an assessment and discovered that 120 shops were affected, adding that the assessment revealed that over 200 people were also affected. He also said three electric poles, one motorbike, generator set and ply machines were destroyed.
“The NEMA South West Zonal Office conducted a post-disaster assessment of the fire incident in Bodija International Market, Ibadan North Local Council of Oyo State, on May 1, 2023.
“The assessment team was received by chairman of the plank market, Waliyu Adewale. He briefed the team on the impact of the disaster on the traders and appealed to NEMA to come to the aid of the affected traders.
“The disaster affected over 120 shops and over 200. Three electric poles, one motorbike, generator set and ply machines were destroyed,” he said.
