2023 election: Obi wins in Abia, defeats Tinubu, Atiku, Kwankwaso

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has been declared the winner of the Saturday, February 25, presidential election in Abia state.

Obi polled a total number of 327,095 votes according to the results announced on Tuesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) collation officers for all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, emerged as Obi’s closest rival in the state with a total of 22,676 votes.


On the other hand, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged with a total vote of 8,914, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, trailed with 1,239 votes.

A total of 2,120,808 voters were registered in the state, according to the INEC collation officers, and 384,468 of them were accredited.

While the total number of valid votes was 370,03 the number of rejected votes was 11,646, and the total number of votes cast was 381,683.
