Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate said he has cast his vote.
Sanwo-Olu is contesting for re-election and a second term as the Lagos state Governor but faces opposition from Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) of the Labour Party (LP) and Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“I have just exercised my right to vote as a resident of Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.
“It’s an important responsibility we all share in building the future of our beloved state and country. I urge all eligible voters to come out and make their voices heard.
“Security officials are at every polling unit to ensure the safety of voters, let us co-operate with them and vote peacefully. Remember, our votes count, and every vote matters.
Meanwhile, there was a reported scanty turnout of voters at St Stephen’s Primary school, Adeniji Adele, Lagos.
Lagos state Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr Olusegun Dawodu, during a chat with Arise News, however, said the whole process was seamless at the St Stephen’s Primary school, Adeniji Adele unit.
“I voted at unit 7, it went seamlessly and in about two minutes or three, I was done. People have been coming out to vote and it has been going on fine,” Dawodu said.
On what could be responsible for the poor turnout of voters, he said: “I won’t say it is a poor turnout because the number of voters at this time today is much higher than that of the presidential election.”
