As the general elections draw closer, the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ruled out going into alliance with the ruling All progressive congress (APC) and other political parties in the country.
The chairman of the ADC forum of states chairmen, Mr Kingsley Temitope Ogah made this known to reporters yesterday in Abuja.
Ogah maintained that the presidential candidate of the party, Dumebi Kachikwu and other candidates of the party across the country have the wherewithal to contest for various elective seats in the country.
The Kogi-born politician stressed that Kachikwu is well equipped to administer the country more than all those angling for the exalted seat of the presidency in the general elections.
Said he: “We don’t have the whole idea of alliance in mind. If we intended to do so we would have been romancing with other parties before now. Our presidential candidate has assured us he would contest and he is contesting.
“All ADC members are ready and ready to support other candidates. By next week, you will see the way ADC would come out full fledge for the campaigns. I am sure Nigerians will prefer the ADC.
“The APC has failed Nigerians. None of the those in the race for the presidency is better than the ADC presidential candidate. They all contributed to the mess we have found ourselves in the country today.
“Atiku was Vice President for 8 years. Peter Obi was in government for 8 years too while Kwankwaso was even there for more than 16 years. We can point at what they did very well. They are the ones that spoiled this country.
“Nigerians need somebody that doesn’t have any dent. Dumebi Kachikwu has a lot of things to offer the country.”
The ADC chieftain expressed doubt over the independent national electoral commission’s (INEC) ability to conduct a free and fair poll and ruled out the possibility of the ADC conducting a fresh national convention after an Abuja High court declared the continued stay of the national chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Nwosu as illegal.
He said it behoves INEC to adhere to the court decision by refusing to recognize Nwosu as the national chairman of the party.
