2024 ACP Image Awards: Davido, Lojay, Tems win big as Queen Latifah is host

Three Nigerian music superstars, Davido, Tems and Lojay have been announced winners of this year’s NAACP Image Awards, a yearly awards ceremony presented by the U.S-based National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) to honour outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature.


The trio won in their respective categories. Davido and Lojay picked up the award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary) for Sensational, their collaboration with Chris Brown; Tems won the prize for Outstanding International Song for her single, Me & U.

Davido and Lojay with the single, fend off competition from other heavyweights including Burna Boy’s Sittin’ On Top Of The World featuring 21 Savage. Winners of the non-televised categories of the 2024 awards are being announced in a series of events that will cap off with the televised ceremony on Saturday, March 16.


As one of the most distinguished multicultural globally recognised iconic annual celebrations of black excellence, the NAACP draws the biggest and brightest stars in Hollywood. The 2024 NAACP Image Award, the 55th edition, continued its tradition of excellence, uplifting values that inspire equality, justice, and progressive change, and highlighting artistes committed to these values.

Lojay

The over 40 categories of the image awards are voted on by the NAACP members. Honorary awards (similar to the Academy Honorary Award) have also been included, such as the President’s Award, the Chairman’s Award, the Entertainer of the Year, the Activist of the Year, and the Hall of Fame Award.

Organisers of the awards, the NAACP and BET, announced that the Grammy-nominated singing group, New Edition, will be inducted into the acclaimed NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame during this year’s ceremony.

Grammy award-winning rapper cum critically acclaimed Emmy, Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated actor and producer, Dana Elaine Owens, better known by the stage name Queen Latifah, will host the prestigious 55th NAACP Image Awards, which will air live on Sunday, March 17, at 19:00 WAT on BET Africa, via DStv channel 129 and GOtv channel 21.
