2024 Hajj: Saudi introduces Hausa, 15 other languages to aid pilgrims’ communication

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched 16 international languages including Nigeria’s Hausa in its official communication guide during the 2024 Hajj.

Besides, the Hajj authority also introduced 15 comprehensive guides aimed at assisting pilgrims from around the world and providing easy-to-follow information covering all stages of Hajj rituals.

Mohammad Alsahabi, a communication specialist at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Embassy in Nigeria, said the guide was intended to ease pilgrims’ experience during the season.

Alsahabi said the Saudi authority has already made the new guide available for easy assess to pilgrims on the official social media handles of the ministry at https://guide.haj.gov.sa/.


“This initiative is part of the Ministry’s ongoing communication and awareness efforts for the 2024 Hajj season. The guides address common questions from pilgrims in over 16 widely spoken languages, including Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Bengali, Indonesian, Hausa, Amharic, Persian, Spanish, Turkish, Russian, Sinhalese, Uzbek, and Malaysian,” Alsahabi said.

“These guides provide essential legal, health, procedural, and regulatory information using simple language, detailed images, diagrams, and educational video clips. Additionally, there is an option for audio versions of the guides.”

Meanwhile, the first batch of Nigerian pilgrims is set to depart the country through Kebbi international airport to Saudi Arabia.
