About 29 suspected bandits were reportedly killed following airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Kankara Local Council of Katsina State.
Spokesperson for the state governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, in a statement yesterday, said the airstrikes were conducted in the vicinity of Bakori hills and the Yartsintsiya areas of the council.

According to him, the airstrikes led to the death of 21 bandits, while some abducted persons regained freedom in the process. He identified a daughter of the village head of Ruwan Godiya, who had been held captive for several months, as one of those that regained freedom.

Also, the state police command said its operatives neutralised eight suspected bandits and rescued 87 kidnapped victims in May. A spokesperson added that 18 cases of major crimes were reported. Twelve of these cases were charged to court, while a total of 52 suspects were arrested within the same period.
