511 Boko Haram terrorists surrender with families, troops rescue Chibok girl – DHQ

As many as 511 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered together with their families with the Nigerian Army also rescuing one Chibok girl during an operation carried out in the North-East region.


According to a statement from the Director of Defence spokesperson, Major General Musa Danmadami, the figure comprises 99 adult males, 161 adult females and 251 children.

Danmadami on Thursday said the Boko Haram terrorists and their families surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army at different locations within the theatre of operations.

“Troops also rescued one kidnapped Chibok school girl while a total of 511 Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province and members of their families comprising of 99 adult males, 161 adult females, and 251 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the theatre of operations,” Danmadami stated.

“During one of the operations, troops killed “26 Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists, arrested 25 terrorists’ logistics suppliers, one terrorist’s spy and one Boko Haram terrorist.”


According to Danmadami, all the recovered items, apprehended suspects and rescued Chibok school girl have been handed over to the relevant authority for further action.

He disclosed that the surrendered Boko Haram terrorists/of the Islamic State of West Africa Province and their family members were profiled and equally handed over to the appropriate authorities.

He also revealed that from May 3 to 12, 2023, troops conducted offensive and clearance operations at terrorists enclaves and camps at different location in Sambisa forest and villages within Bama, Damboa, Gwoza and Kaga Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Danmadami said during these operations, troops had several fierce encounters with Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists during which 15 terrorists were neutralized while others fled with gun shot wounds.
