Dave Chappelle has reacted after being attacked on stage during his comedy performance.

Chappelle’s representative Carla Sims released a statement regarding the attack on the comedian that took place on Tuesday night at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

The audience member identified as Isaiah Lee was seen holding a knife is being held by the Los Angeles police for felony assault with a deadly weapon.

“As unfortunate and unsettling as the incident was, Chappelle went on with the show, Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock helped calm the crowd with humour before Chappelle introduced the last and featured musical guests for the evening.”

The LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli spokesperson told sources that Chappelle “had finished his act and as he was exiting the stage, a male who was part of the audience jumped on the stage and tackled this celebrity to the ground.”

LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes also confirmed that the 26-year-old had a replica handgun knife.

Chappelle’s representative Sims confirmed that the comedian is “fully cooperating” with the police investigation of the incident., however, the intention of the attacker is uncertain.

Chappelle was performing at “Netflix is a Joke: The Festival” when he was attacked by Isaiah Lee.

A Netflix spokesperson said, “We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.
