MEMBERS of Barwa Layout Land Owners Association, Kuje, Abuja, have threatened to sue authorities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over alleged plans to revoke plots already allocated to them in the area.
The Chairman of the Association, Chief Tobias Obiechina, who addressed journalists in Abuja yesterday recalled that the land was earlier allocated to people of the area by the authorities of the FCT including those repurchased from allottees since 2003 after a thorough legal search, recertification and full documentation, is allegedly being reallocated by the same ministry through fresh allocation papers to people, insisting that the land has been revoked as part of government plans to build a centenary village on it.
He said, “we saw people coming to show us different allocation papers, if it is not for the selfish interest of a few, on whose overriding interest is the present action serving? They revoked the land and shared it amongst themselves; we shall resist this injustice and go to court to seek redress.”
The chairman, who further recalled that the same land grab scenario was orchestrated in Lugbe I extension, which they now converted to Rivpark gardens and housing estates called on the incoming administration of General Muhammad Buhari to revisit the issue of land administration in Abuja with a view to redressing several injustices meted out to genuine land owners in the territory.
