Interior designers seek holistic approach to prioritise wellness
The Convener of Blueprint Conference, Dr Jennifer Chukwujekwe has emphasised the need to embrace holistic practices that prioritise not only their clients’ well-being but also theirs for enhanced productivity.
At the sixth edition of the Blueprint Conference, tagged ‘Design and Wellness’, Chukwujekwe said the retreat was meant to inspire, rejuvenate, and empower members for optimal performance.
Convener of Blueprint Conference, Dr Jennifer Chukwujekwe, said as interior designers, they pour out their hearts and souls into crafting spaces that uplift and transform the lives of others, but often in the process, they forget about the space within themselves.
Chukwujekwe said it was high time they reclaimed their spaces, nurtured their wellbeing, and reignited their passion for the incredible craft.
“I understand firsthand the demands of this industry. The late night, the tight deadlines, the endless search for perfection. But I’ve also learned that the best designs emerge when we are at our best – when we are balanced, focused and whole. That is why we created this retreat, to remind you that you are the most important element in every design you create,” she said.
Speaking on ‘Mindful Leadership: Leading with Consciousness,’ Entrepreneur and Publisher Dr. Tewa Onasanya said for one to live a life of consciousness, the person must embrace and appreciate where he/she is now.
Giving five tips that lead to consciousness, she said one must align him/herself with purpose, “make decisions that support your vision, lead with emotional intelligence, have integrity and authenticity as well as having a holistic well-being by being mindful all the time. ”
Also, a Management Consultant, Ifeyinwa Okafor, who spoke on ‘Designing a Wholesome Life’, said notwithstanding the challenging times, one could create or design a whole life by being fully alive and growing in harmony with the original design.
Achieving this through five Ds, she said one must dream, design, decide, discipline and detach.
According to her, “You have to intentionally design how you want to achieve your dreams through actionable steps and developing the skills to be confident in achieving them.”
On the practical steps for finding wholeness in a hectic world, Okafor urged that one must prioritise goals, schedule, set boundaries, grow mindset, delegate and outsource and also leverage technology.
At the retreat, representatives from the Happiness Centre gave tools to help relieve stress, adding that having a state of mind that is focused and relaxed relieves stress.
