In a world where technology is redefining healthcare delivery, Olorunsogo Bidemi Adeoye has distinguished himself as a leader in digital health and public health informatics for Epidemiology. With extensive expertise in digital transformation, data system modernization, digital transformation, data science, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), health information systems, and project management, Adeoye has played a crucial role in improving disease surveillance, immunization programs, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment program, and data-driven decision-making in healthcare delivery across multiple countries.

Leveraging Technology to Strengthen Public Health Systems

Adeoye holds a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Nigeria. His career is dedicated to leveraging digital tools and data systems to address public health challenges. His work focuses on facilitating interoperable systems, enhancing health data quality, optimizing disease monitoring information systems, and ensuring that accurate, timely and high-quality data and information guide public health responses. His contributions have supported health systems in Nigeria, Liberia, Uganda, the Republic of Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, Ukraine, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and beyond, enabling governments and health institutions to respond swiftly and effectively to programmatic functions, disease outbreaks and vaccination efforts.

Transforming Immunization Data Management and Disease Surveillance

One of Adeoye’s key accomplishments is leading the development and implementation of an Electronic Management of Immunization Data (EMID) platform, which enabled real-time visualization of COVID-19 vaccine distribution, administration, and utilization. This platform helped strengthen data-driven decision-making that resulted in the vaccination of over 70 million Nigerians, which contributed to the timely and effective response to the pandemic. Also, he contributed significantly to the efforts that ensured the complete eradication of the Polio virus in Nigeria. He played a crucial role in providing strategic guidance and meaningful technical assistance on the use of technology for Epidemiological approaches.

Data-Driven Approaches to Outbreak Response and Health Solutions

Adeoye has played a vital role in emergency response efforts during different outbreaks (Measles, Yellow Fever, Ebola, COVID-19, etc.), ensuring that data collection and analysis processes provide accurate and real-time information to support containment strategies. Additionally, he has explored artificial intelligence (AI) (predictive modelling) to improve disease detection. Notably, his work on early stroke detection developing and using machine learning predictive models highlights his commitment to advancing diagnostic capabilities and preventative healthcare through technology.

Empowering Health Systems through Capacity Building

Beyond technical expertise, Adeoye is passionate about building local capacity. He has trained thousands of healthcare professionals, government officials, and researchers in data management, digital health systems, and public health informatics, ensuring that countries are equipped with the skills and tools necessary to manage their health data systems independently. Through partnerships with global public health organizations, Adeoye has contributed to strengthening routine immunization coverage, improving data reporting systems, and enhancing disease surveillance capacity globally.

A Visionary in Digital Health Transformation

Olorunsogo (Bidemi) Adeoye’s work exemplifies the power of data-driven public health systems. His leadership in data systems modernization, digital transformation, immunization data management, health information systems, and data science is helping to shape a future where technology supports stronger, more resilient health systems. As global health challenges evolve, professionals like Adeoye are driving the shift towards smarter, data-informed healthcare delivery, ensuring that public health decisions are guided by robust information systems and innovative technologies.
