• Nab 15 Oil Thieves, Rescue 206 Kidnap Victims
Troops on the frontline have decimated no fewer than 253 terrorists, arresting 172 others just as 206 kidnap victims were set free in the last one week, the defence headquarters has revealed.
It was also disclosed that 15 suspects were nabbed for alleged oil theft.
The Director, Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major General Edward Buba, who made the disclosure, noted that the armed forces remained steadfast in their role as source of national power.
He added that ongoing operations across the country are in support of national security interest.
“In the South South, troops denied oil theft of the estimated sum of N1.73b only. Furthermore, troops recovered 251 assorted weapons and 4,113 assorted ammunition.”
Buba stated that troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 22 dugout pits, 37 boats, 70 drums, four receiver, four reservoirs and 29 storage tanks.
Other items recovered include 215 cooking ovens, 13 vehicles, four wheelbarrows, one tricycle, one motorcycle, five mobile phones, one speedboat, two KYD radios, two outboard engines and 75 illegal refining sites.
Troops recovered 1.047m litres of stolen crude oil and 205,550 litres of illegally refined AGO.
“The operations across the country are a testament of the tireless effort of the military to prevent anarchy, unrest and national security destabilisation. For these reasons, the armed forces is deserving of the pride of place as the nations symbol of national unity and resilience.”
