The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has inaugurated a strategic inter-agency coordination committee as part of efforts to consolidate the gains of its ongoing stakeholder consultations and reposition the Fund for greater efficiency and impact.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Fund’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, the Executive Director, Administration, Samaila Abdu, who represented the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, said the Committee’s core mandate is to coordinate and advance the MD’s transformative agenda through structured follow-ups on stakeholders’ visits and engagements.
Abdu explained that inter-agency visits and stakeholder engagements are central to the management’s broader initiative to promote the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS), expand the Fund’s coverage, and strengthen partnerships across relevant institutions.
Describing the new body as a standing committee, the Executive Director expressed optimism that it would play a pivotal role in achieving the bold and visionary goals set by the MD upon his assumption of office.
“Members of the Committee were selected based on their outstanding reputation, professional expertise, dedication to duty, and high moral standards,” Abdu stated, adding that management has full confidence in their ability to deliver on the assignment.
The Committee is chaired by Abdul-Lateef Musa, General Manager, Compliance Department, with eight other members: Dr Dayo Alao (Technical Adviser to the MD), Frances Nwachukwu, Olakunle Olasaru, Dr Augusta Ehigalua, Dr Emmanuel Ulayi, Dorothy Igbole, Blessing Ogechi, and Baba Hussain Bala.
According to the Executive Director, the Committee’s terms of reference include documentation of outcomes and decisions from all inter-agency engagements; development of action plans with timelines and assigned responsibilities; liaison with partner organizations to sustain momentum and track progress; monitoring implementation and reporting challenges to Executive Management; provision of periodic progress reports to the MD/CE; and valuation of the impact of engagements and recommendations for improvement.
In his response, the Committee Chairman, Lateef Musa, thanked the management for the opportunity to serve, assuring that the team would justify the confidence reposed in them.
“We are aware of the weight of this responsibility, and we assure management that the team will not disappoint. The members were carefully selected and are committed to advancing the Fund’s mission,” Musa said.
The establishment of the strategic inter-agency coordination committee underscores the NSITF’s renewed drive under Faleye’s leadership to deepen collaboration, enhance service delivery, and reposition the Fund as a trusted social security institution in Nigeria.
