Luxury hospitality destination The Delborough Lagos has celebrated its Board Chairman, the Obi of Onitsha, His Royal Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe (Agbogidi), on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
The revered 21st Obi of Onitsha was honoured at an exclusive birthday dinner hosted by The Delborough Lagos on June 20, 2026. The event brought together distinguished guests, traditional leaders, business executives and prominent personalities from across Nigeria to celebrate the monarch’s remarkable life, leadership and contributions to national development.
Management and staff of The Delborough Lagos paid glowing tributes to the royal father, describing him as a symbol of wisdom, integrity and visionary leadership whose influence extends far beyond the traditional institution.
The celebration came just days after The Delborough Lagos welcomed Michelin-starred chef Sauro Bison to lead culinary operations at its signature DANI Restaurant, marking the chef’s first professional engagement on African soil and reinforcing the hotel’s growing reputation as a destination for global excellence.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Ita Giwa, former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and entertainer Charly Boy, alongside other notable guests from various sectors.
