Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has appealed for public support to raise N30 million for three urgent surgeries after spending three weeks in hospital.
Nwosu disclosed her condition in a video posted on Instagram on Thursday. She said the situation had become more than she could handle and called on her fans, relatives and colleagues to support her treatment.
“My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time. I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.
The actress described the pain she was experiencing and begged Nigerians not to abandon her.
“I need your help. Don’t let me die. I know that you people never forsake me… I’m begging you, my fans and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot, as in pain.”
Nwosu said she has “like three surgeries to go through with,” and directed anyone willing to assist her to contact her management.
“Please don’t let me die. If there’s anything you want to do for me, please contact my management. They’ll be there for you. Thank you. God bless you,” she said.
In the caption accompanying the video, Nwosu admitted that asking publicly for assistance was difficult, but said she could no longer remain silent about her condition.
“My fans, friends, family and colleagues, this was really hard for me to do, but I can’t keep quiet anymore. I need urgent life-saving surgeries. Please don’t scroll past. Share this post and support if you can,” she wrote.
She stated that the “total amount needed for all surgeries is: N30,000,000,” adding that supporters could contact her legal representative or management for further details.
Nwosu ended her appeal with a prayer for those supporting her.
“God bless you and may you and yours never experience this affliction.”
Nwosu began her career on stage, gaining early experience in English and Yoruba productions after training at the Royal Theatre Art Club School. She reached a wider audience through the television series Ripples, where she played Madam V-Boot. Her appearance in the 1992 film Living in Bondage also placed her among the familiar faces of Nollywood’s home-video era.
She gained recognition as Peace, one of Chief Fuji’s wives, in Amaka Igwe’s sitcom Fuji House of Commotion. Over the years, Nwosu has remained a screen presence, with credits including Skinny Girl in Transit, Isoken, Light in the Dark and Crazy Grannies.
