Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, is set to embark on an eight-city tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland between August and September.
Tagged ‘The Baba Experience’, the tour will begin in London on August 21 before moving to Manchester the following day.
The singer’s manager, Mallam Yankee, who announced the schedule, said the tour will subsequently move to Sunderland on August 28, Birmingham on August 29 and Edinburgh on August 30.
Following the August dates, 2Baba will resume the tour in September with a performance in Reading on September 4, followed by Derby on September 5.
The final scheduled stop will take the Nigerian singer to Dublin, Ireland, on September 11.
The series of performances will give 2Baba an opportunity to reconnect with audiences in different parts of the UK and Ireland, including members of the Nigerian and wider African diaspora.
The London performance will open a run of five shows scheduled within 10 days in August.
After the opening night on August 21, 2Baba will head to Manchester on August 22 before a six-day break ahead of the Sunderland performance.
The tour will then move through Birmingham and Edinburgh on consecutive days.
Following a short break, the September leg will begin in Reading before moving to Derby and concluding in Dublin.
The tour is being promoted by Yankee Entertainment and BareN, according to the organisers.
Tickets are being sold through online ticketing platforms including VTickets, Shoobs and Eventbrite.
The organisers said ‘The Baba Experience’ was designed to take 2Baba’s music and live entertainment to audiences across the cities included on the schedule.
The tour adds another series of international performances to a career that has seen 2Baba become one of the most recognisable figures in contemporary Nigerian music.
Formerly known as 2Face Idibia, the singer first gained widespread attention as a member of the music group Plantashun Boiz before establishing a solo career.
His catalogue spans more than two decades and includes songs that have remained familiar to different generations of Nigerian music listeners.
His 2004 hit ‘African Queen’ became one of the defining songs of his early solo career and helped introduce his music to audiences beyond Nigeria.

Other releases across his career have drawn from Afrobeats, R&B, reggae and African pop influences, giving the singer a catalogue from which to draw for the forthcoming performances.
The UK and Ireland have also developed into important touring destinations for Nigerian musicians, reflecting the growing international audience for music from the country and the presence of substantial Nigerian and African communities in both markets.
For established performers such as 2Baba, touring those cities provides an opportunity to reach long-standing listeners while introducing parts of their catalogue to younger audiences.
