Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked reactions across social media following an online exchange with Nigerian rapper Erigga.

The conversation started when Erigga took to social media to share a post praising artists who rose from humble beginnings without the safety net of family wealth and had to work for every dollar they earn.

He wrote, “Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn.”

Reacting directly to the sentiment, Davido pushed back, acknowledging artists from privileged backgrounds who still put in the hard work to reach the pinnacle of success.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” he responded.

The interaction further progressed when Davido dismissed the rapper’s initial post, labeling it unhelpful.
Davido, then described Erigga’s message as “useless motivation.” Suggesting he might walk away from music to focus entirely on expanding his multi-billion-naira business empire.

“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote. “Deep down, who like poverty?”

Born in Warri, Delta State, Erigga (Erhiga Agarivbie) has built his legendary status as the undisputed voice of the streets. Known for his raw, gritty storytelling, pidgin rap mastery, and albums like A Trip to the South and The Erigma, Erigga carved out his niche through sheer resilience, emerging from a challenging background to become a pillar of Nigerian hip-hop.

Also, Davido was born into immense affluence as the son of billionaire Nigerian industrialist Adedeji Adeleke. Despite his privileged upbringing, Davido defied expectations by launching his own career in 2011 with “Back When” and got into global stardom with “Dami Duro” in 2012.
