Lagos was agog as prominent Nigerians from across the country and beyond converged on the nation’s commercial capital for the colourful traditional marriage and wedding ceremonies of Dr. Oghenekome Egukawhore, son of renowned Niger Delta leader and Chairman of Dewayles Group of Companies, High Chief Dr. Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore (JP).

The elaborate celebrations, which brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, senior military officers, professionals, business executives, family members and friends, were marked by a rich display of culture, elegance, music and conviviality.

Dr. Oghenekome Egukawhore exchanged marital vows with his heartthrob, former Miss Stephanie Spencer, who is now Mrs. Stephanie Egukawhore, amid prayers, goodwill messages and an outpouring of affection from guests.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri; Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe; and a representative of the Ondo State Governor.

Also in attendance were former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, alongside other prominent political leaders.

The celebrations attracted serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, state legislators, serving and former commissioners, local government council chairmen, and other political stakeholders from different parts of the country.

Senior serving and retired military officers, captains of industry, bank chairmen, chief executives and managing directors, as well as leading figures in Nigeria’s oil and gas and corporate sectors, also joined the celebrations.

Traditional rulers, royal fathers and prominent chiefs, particularly from Delta, Bayelsa and Ekiti States, added colour and prestige to the ceremonies, joining family members, friends, associates and well-wishers to celebrate the union.

Speaking on the significance of the occasion, the groom’s father, High Chief Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore, admonished the newlyweds to build their marriage on faith in God, love, unity and mutual understanding.

He urged Dr. Oghenekome and Mrs. Stephanie Egukawhore to see themselves as one and remain deeply united in love, stressing that such values would help them overcome the challenges that could arise in their marital journey.

High Chief Egukawhore also cautioned the couple against allowing third parties to infiltrate their relationship, describing marriage as a remarkable new beginning that must be deliberately protected and nurtured by both partners.

He prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection and blessings upon the couple, their families and all those who travelled from different parts of the country and beyond to witness the celebration.

The proud father particularly thanked guests who travelled from far and near to celebrate with the Egukawhore family, saying their presence had contributed immensely to making the occasion a memorable milestone for the family.

The newlyweds remained at the centre of attention throughout the celebrations, radiating happiness and gratitude as they welcomed guests and shared the joy of their union with relatives, friends and associates.

One of the major highlights of the celebration was the energetic dancing display by High Chief Egukawhore, whose exuberant steps drew applause, cheers and admiration from guests.

The visibly elated father danced in celebration of his son’s marriage, providing a symbolic expression of a parent’s joy at witnessing a major milestone in the life of his child.
