A Cleric Has Urged Christians To Pray For An End To Insurgency

cross_sunset.1.lrThe Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on Administration, Pastor Johnson Funso Odesola, has called on Christians and Nigerians in general to pray consistently for the federal government to overcome the problem of insurgency and that peace be restored in the north east and every part of the country.
He also advised the federal government to not just look outward but also look inward in the fight against insurgency and find out if there are disgruntled elements that wants to make the administration uncomfortable.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (All Nations) parish in Abuja, observed that the church has a role in ensuring peace in the country; adding that Christians should be mediator and facilitators of peace wherever they are found.
He noted that even though the new administration is doing their best to tackle the problem of insurgency in the country, there is the need for government to increase the tempo a bit, in order to bring an end to the problem.
He said, “ They should not only look outward, they should also look inward to find out if there are some disgruntled elements that want to make the government uncomfortable. The Church of God in Nigeria has so many things at stake, and we will continue to pray for the government consistently because if they fail, it is our failure, if they succeed, it is our success.”
He described the inauguration of the new parish as a fulfillment of an assignment given to the church by Adeboye.
Also speaking, the pioneer Pastor of the Parish, Pastor Godwin Akinmisheko called on leaders at all levels to be selfless and render services to the electorates who voted them into power.
He stated that the event was in line with the vision of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to reach out to all the nooks and crannies of the country noting that apart from planting churches in the villages and local communities, the church want to also reach out to the top people in the society because they also need Christ because Jesus Christ is for both poor and the rich.
