The Police in Ekiti have arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of the chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), in the state, Mr. Paul Omotoso, who was recently kidnapped alongside two others.

Spokesperson for Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, in a statement, yesterday, said the suspects were arrested for their role in the abduction and are supplying useful information that could lead to the arrest of the prime suspects who are currently at large.

He also confirmed the release of Omotoso, stressing that the feat was made possible through the combined efforts of the Police, other sister agencies, the local security outfits and the family members, as well as the Ekiti State government.

However, it was gathered that the kidnappers had contacted the family of Omotoso to demand a certain amount of money as ransom before he could be freed. It was uncertain whether or not ransom was paid before his eventual release as efforts to get both the family and party to comment on the matter had been unsuccessful.

However, one of the political associates of the chairman, who did not want to be named, said he was freed in the night and rejoined his family hale and hearty.

“Barrister Paul Omotoso is back home hale and hearty just now. We are happy.”

Meanwhile, the police have urged citizens to be security conscious, vigilant and ensure the prompt reportage of any suspicious person or group of persons observed in their locality to the nearest Police Station or call 08062335577.
