A representative of Isiala Ngwa North Council in the House of Assembly, Ginger Onwusibe, told The Guardian that it was part of the resolutions of his constituency against the recent attack on and burning of Omoba Police Station in Isiala Ngwa South Council by gunmen.
A police officer was reportedly killed during the attack, which the constituents condemned at their meeting.
Onwusibe, who said that the meeting was hosted and presided over by their son in the House of Representatives, Darlington Nwokocha, listed other decisions the stakeholders took to include protection of their territory by every legitimate means.
He urged the police to unravel those behind the attack as well as arrest and prosecute them. This is as he enjoined the constituents to remain calm, to be conscious of the prevailing insecurity, even as they reposed confidence in Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
The state lawmaker lamented that such an incident happened in Ngwa land whose people were famous for their bravery.
Specifically, he condemned the unprovoked activities of herdsmen, including the destruction of farmlands and crops, kidnapping, rape among others.
“We are consequently losing our patience. The Federal Government should act decisively by enforcing the extant law on cattle grazing and rearing. We are equal stakeholders in the Nigerian project. We are activating our security network and shall be combing our forests and bushes henceforth,” he added.
