‘Abide by S’Court verdict on Enugu elections’

Supreme Court

Aggrieved candidates, who contested the gubernatorial elections in Enugu State, but lost, have been urged to take solace on the judgement of the Supreme Court, which affirmed Peter Mba as winner.

President of Nsukka Progressive Association (NPA), Charles Nwodo, who made the call, said the people had spoken in the election, but because we are in a constitutional climate, the aggrieved candidates went to court. He added that the decision of the apex court should, therefore, draw the curtains on all agitations, as far as the election is concerned.

The association urged aggrieved contestants to prepare for 2027, inviting the political class in the state to partner Mba to implement needed measures and policies to improve the living conditions of Enugu people, bringing rapid and sustainable development to the state.

Nwodo congratulates the governor over his victory at the Supreme Court, which ended all legal challenges to the outcome of the gubernatorial election.

The association, therefore, wished the governor a successful tenure, charging him to serve the people of the state faithfully, diligently and without discrimination.

It also indicated willingness to collaborate with the administration in any effort towards the rapid development of the state. Nwodo asserted that the association would maintain, with vigor, its role as promoter of good governance and electoral integrity, as well as foremost defender of the common good. He noted that his association was further extending a congratulatory message to the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in the state, Chijioke Edoga, for the important achievement recorded by his party, especially for his decision to resort to the courts to seek redress in relation to the election outcome.
