A group, QHSES Leadership Academy has donated to the orphanages at Heritage Homes, Lagos with safety equipment, foodstuffs, fans, and among other items.
The initiative was part of the firm’s commemoration of its first Safetainability day, which aimed to address Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1 and 2.
Founder of the academy, Jamiu Badmus emphasised the need for societal adherence to safety and sustainability practices. He explained that safetainability, coined from safety and sustainability. guides the initiative to address immediate needs while creating lasting, secure environments.,
Highlighting the academy’s goal to adopt at least 20 orphanages by year-end, he noted that Nigeria has about 17.5 million orphans and vulnerable children, with 278 orphanages needing support, according to the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs.
The academy’s visit included a thorough assessment of Heritage Homes’ facilities, leading to upgrades such as waste management systems, air conditioning units, fire safety equipment, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) installations.
They also conducted first aid and firefighting training for the staff and caregivers, and donated safety-themed books and educational materials. Badmus said that Heritage Homes was selected due to Pastor Ituah Ighodalo’s influence, a facilitator at their Leadership Reboot Programme.
Responding, General manager of Heritage Homes, Reuben Amara, expressed gratitude for the academy’s impactful contributions.
“Their support has improved our facilities and inspired our staff with robust training. We deeply appreciate their dedication and generosity,” Amara said.
