Adams tasks South-West governors on local security ahead of 2023 polls

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams and a scholar from the Department of Public Administration, Ibadan Polytechnics, Mr. Wahab Yusuf, yesterday, stressed the need for South-West governors to strengthen local security outfits across the region.

Adams, who spoke at the 2022 edition of Oke’badan festival in Ibadan, said that Amotekun had succeeded in reducing the spate of insecurity across the region but emphasised that other local security outfits should be empowered.

He noted that the South-West Security Stakeholders Group had really helped in addressing the menace on criminality adding that Amotekun has also complimented the efforts of the conventional security apparatus like the police and other security agencies, saying: “The success recorded so far in the last few months has lifted the spirit of the people.”

Yusuf, on his part, said the Aare Onakakanfo had been doing his best to sustain the Oke’badan festival and several others for over two decades.
