The General Overseer, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide, Adejare Adeboye, has asked Nigerians to celebrate God despite the challenges confronting the country.

Presiding over the New Year thanksgiving service, yesterday, at RCCG headquarters (Throne of Grace), Ebute Metta, the pastor said for God to continue to hold Nigeria together as one despite differences and consequent problems, there is absolute need to appreciate God.

He said: “We have so many things to celebrate about Nigeria, despite that we have not arrived at the Nigeria of our collective dream. History will tell us that some African countries did not pass through one tenth of what Nigeria is passing through before they divided.

“God has been preventing the country from another war because there is no country that can accommodate Nigerians with the population of more than 200 million. Ghana or any country in West Africa, according to him, cannot absorb two states in Nigeria. That is the reason we should thank God. Again, it is the beginning of war one knows, no one knows the end.”

Adeboye, who prophesied during the New Year cross-over service that the world would be relatively more peaceful this year and that many trouble makers in Nigeria would lose the ability to make trouble, asked Nigerians to see every reason to thank and appreciate God, no matter their challenges.
