AEDC to disconnect homes, offices over service debtors 


Electricity supply to homes and offices in Abuja may get worse in the days ahead as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has threatened to disconnect any customer who is not up to date in the payment of electricity bills.

 
The company urged its customers who have outstanding bills to settle them immediately to avoid disruption of service.Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, AEDC, Adefisayo Akinsanya, who disclosed this in Abuja yesterday, said notifications have been sent out to all affected stakeholders. He added: “AEDC is notifying all customers with outstanding bills to settle their accounts immediately to avoid service disruption.”
 
The electricity firm added that customers with outstanding bills have up to Monday to settle such or face disconnection.

“To this end, customers who are yet to settle their outstanding bills within the next 72 hours, by Monday, June 3, 2024, will face disconnection of their electricity supply,” it stated.
 
Akinsanya noted that payment for electricity is crucial to the AEDC’s operations, stressing the need for strict compliance.
 
“AEDC emphasises the importance of adhering to payment deadlines to ensure efficient and reliable service.
 
“The timely payment of electricity bills remains crucial for the continued operation and enhancement of AEDC’s infrastructure, which is essential for delivering uninterrupted service to the community. Deadline for Payment: All outstanding bills must be paid within 72 hours of this notice, by Monday, June 3, 2024,” the statement added.
