Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi has said the team must convert scoring chances against opponents following their disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

A Victor Osimhen goal helped the Eagles avoid a shock defeat against Equatorial Guinea.

The Eagles were also guilty of missing glaring scoring chances which would have led to a wide score margin victory.

Left-back Zaidu Sanusi missed two big chances while Osimhen put the ball wide with only the keeper to beat.

Speaking on the outcome of the game, Ajayi said:”We created a lot of chances but we need to be more clinical and we are working on that to put things right in the next game.

“We spoke with each other, we know what we need to do to improve and we will definitely put in the work to make sure we get things right for the next game.”

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday when they will take on Côte d’Ivoire.

The last time both teams met in the AFCON was in the quarter-finals stage at the 2013 edition.

Goals from Emmanuel Emenike and Sunday Mba secured a 2-1 win for the late Stephen Keshi-led side.
