Again, ASUU urges IGP, Oyo CP to arrest killers of UI don, Ajewole

Friends, family, dons begin burial activities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan (UI) chapter, has again called on the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, to deploy his tactical team to assist the Oyo State Police Command in unmasking the killers of Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole of the Department Social and Environmental Forestry Development of the university.


In a statement signed by its Chairman, Prof. Ayo Akinwole, yesterday, the union said the acting IGP should take passionate interest in the case and deploy human and technical expertise to unravel the mystery surrounding the killing so that the perpetrators will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Akinwole said that the IGP should be concerned and use the privileged resources of his office to assist in cracking the criminals behind the dastardly killing of the professor.

Meanwhile, the burial programmes for the late don began on Sunday, July 2, 2023, with a candlelight procession to the Trenchard Hall of the university, followed by a Christian wake yesterday, July 3, 2023 and lying-in-state in the university today, July 4, 2023.
