The Grand Jury of the 2024 Gerety Awards has been announced and marketing commmunications professional, Ayodotun Rotimi Akinfenwa will be representing Nigeria on the Grand Jury.
Named for Frances Gerety, the copywriter who in 1948 coined the slogan “A diamond is forever”, and founded by Joe Brooks and Lucia Ongay, the Awards brings together an all-female jury to select the best in advertising globally from a powerful perspective. Entries for the 2024 awards are already open and respected and admired leaders of the advertising and marketing around the world have joined the Grand Jury for the sixth edition of the awards. 2024 will see the Awards hold judging sessions in 15 locations and judges for the executive jury will be announced soon.
Past representatives from Nigeria on the Grand Jury were Yetunde Adesina and Bunmi Oke. The awards have also recognised good work out of Nigeria including Insight Communication as Agency of the Year 2021 and X3M Ideas work for Flour Mills under the Work for Good Cut.
Akinfenwa, who is currently the Global Head of Communications, The Elevation Church, said, “We must continue to amplify the female perspective when it comes to marketing work that gets aired or recognised. We are not just end users and audience members, we have always been astute marketers often leading the charge for groundbreaking creative explorations, widening portfolios and bottom lines.”
Africa has six representatives on the Gerety Awards Grand jury 2024; two from South Africa and one each from Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya and Ghana. Ayodotun is a Brand/Marketing expert of 17 years, a consultant, corporate trainer, course creator, speaker and global Canva expert.
Her core skills are in Strategic Marketing, Brand Strategy and Management, Marketing, Communications, PR and Project Management.
She kicked off her career working on some of the biggest international FMCG brands and campaigns across West Africa before founding her Brand consulting firm, Lifestyle Hues Brand Consulting in 2016 and eventually taking on her current role at The Elevation Church.
