Speaking for the group, Obong Eteyen Archibong said for better cohesion of the state, Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency in the North East Senatorial District should be allowed to produce the governor in 2023.
He argued that giving Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency the governorship slot would end the marginalisation and underdevelopment of Eastern Ibibio Ikono axis and unite the Ibibio across the state.
Archibong stated that the essence of their visit to the Mkparawa Ibibio and Itai Afe Annang was to intimate them about their position on the selection process of a governorship candidate in the 2023 election.
“Since the Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency has not produced the governor since the creation of Akwa Ibom State in 1987, zoning the governorship position the region will be crucial to the advancement of the state,” he said.
