Akwa Ibom restates commitment to staff welfare


As part of measures towards enhancing performance and productivity among its workforce, the Akwa Ibom State Government has pledged a continuous commitment to staff welfare and motivation.


According to the state, it is only a properly motivated workforce that can meet the target of maximum performance and effective service delivery.

The state Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, stated in Uyo, while celebrating the birthday anniversary of three employees of his ministry in keeping with the corporate practice of the organisation under his leadership.

At the event held in the Office of the Director of Public Relations, Mrs Grace Akpan, the commissioner described birthday celebration as part of staff welfare and motivation initiatives of the ministry geared towards re-energising the workers for enhanced performance and productivity and expressed his commitment to uphold the exercise due to the derivable benefits.


Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Akparawa James Edet, the commissioner expressed gratitude to God for granting the celebrators another opportunity for life and prayed that the new season would afford them the desired passion and dedication to discharge their duties efficiently.

Ememobong particularly commended the Director of Public Relations, Mrs Grace Akpan, who incidentally is the coordinator of staff birthday celebrations in the ministry for her passion and commitment in carrying out the assignment and urged her to do more in her new chapter of her life.

While setting the tone for the event, the Director of Information and Dean of Directors in the Ministry, Mrs Blessing Urua said staff birthday celebration had in no small measures created a family bond and unity amongst the workforce and expressed deep appreciation to the commissioner for upholding the initiative.


She urged staff to reciprocate the magnanimous gesture of the commissioner by taking their duties seriously and congratulated the three celebrators, including: the Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Grace Akpan, Information Officer, Ministry of Economic Development, Ruth Akaninyene and Senior Admin Officer, Dr (Mrs) Umoh Gabriel TonyUdoh, on their birthday anniversary.

In their separate birthday messages at the occasion, the Director of Archives, Rev Eunice Egharevba; an Entrepreneur, Nsikak Tom; and the MD, XL106.9FM, Mr Utibe Ukim, all spoke glowingly of the Director of Public Relations, Mrs Grace Akpan for her passion for staff, which, they averred, had played out right on her own celebration and wished her beautiful years ahead in good health and prosperity.

Responding on behalf of the three celebrators, Mrs Akpan expressed deep gratitude to God for sparing their lives to celebrate yet another new age and pledged their commitment to the service of God and humanity.

The event which was attended by the management and staff of the Ministry featured prayers for the celebrators, praise and worship, presentation of gifts and cutting of birthday cake amid birthday chants.
