Alake extols Alabi’s integrity as veteran journalist

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has described Chief Lekan Alabi as a versatile and veteran journalist, whose integrity had enabled him to serve many Governors.

Oba Gbadebo, who made the remarks during the official presentation of Alabi’s Biography, at the Ake Palace, lauded his assiduity, excellent public relations, respect for elders, tradition and culture.

The monarch also congratulated Alabi as he had moved up in the long line of the Olubadan Stool, as the Ekefa and prayed that he would live long to get to the apex throne.

The Egba Apex monarch bought 20 copies of the biography for onward distribution to tertiary institutions’ libraries in Egbaland.

Speaking earlier, Alabi appreciated the monarch for his hospitality, love and support, noting that there is a strong mutual love between the Alake and the Olubadan.


He further disclosed that he would never disrespect the traditional institution, the reason why he decided to formally present his biography to the Alake.

Alabi added that the presentation should have taken place since last year, but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the EndSARS protest.

The Biography, written by the former head of Political Science, University of Ibadan, Prof. Odiesse Nwodisse, was launched on October 27, 2020, to mark Alabi’s 70th birthday.

He said the title of the book: “Oloye Lekan Alabi: An Unbelievable Life,” proves that he was destined for greatness and everyone must get a copy to find out about the unbelievable of his life. “I am a man of humility, respect, strict compliance with protocol, law and order.”
