ALDRAP seeks to include AGoF office in constitution

The Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) has called for the inclusion of the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGoF) in the constitution amendment.

Its position is contained in a memorandum to the House Constitutional Review Committee for the creation of the office of the Accountant General of the Federation as one of the institutions for independent oversight of financial regulation of Federal Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs).

“Unlike the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, which is enshrined in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation is not currently enshrined in the said Constitution.

“Our association as a non-profit non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting professionalism in the legislative space, hereby suggests the above-named Memorandum,” the body said in its memo, signed by its Secretary, Dr Tonye Clinton Jaja and expressed its willingness to provide further details on demand.
