Alumni donate N2.7m worth of projects to alma mater

The old students of St. Luke’s Grammar School, ‘87 set, have donated projects worth N2.7 million to their alma mater.

The donation includes 88 sets of desks and chairs, as well as wireless printing machine, and school uniforms.

Chairman of the association, Tunji Idris, said the gesture was to give back to the school that moulded them, and also enhance the learning environment for current and future students.

He emphasised the association’s commitment to provide a conducive learning environment and positively impact the school’s outlook.

Idris said the gesture was a clear response to the management’s call for support in addressing the deplorable learning conditions faced by students.

He tasked teachers and parents to safeguard the materials for both present and future generations.

Expressing concerns over the government’s decision to relegate the school to just a junior secondary school, Idris lamented the impact of such action on the association.

An old student, Jogunomi Nurudeen, from the ‘99 set, said the support and contributions of old students are testaments to the enduring bond between alumni and their alma mater.

He emphasised the importance of community support in advancing education and infrastructural development.

He also supported the call for the restoration of the school to its former status to facilitate alumni unity post-graduation.

Chairman of the parent-teacher association, Adams Kolapo, lauded the old students for their support, and assured that the items would be put to good use.
