Amotekun nabs octogenarian, others for vandalisation, theft in Ekiti

Operatives of the Western Security Network, code name Amotekun Corps, Ekiti State Command said it arrested 80-year-old Pa Michael Fatokun, and another 60-year-old man, Oladosun Eniola, for allegedly vandalising equipment belonging to the Ekiti State Water Cooperation in Okemesi-Ekiti, in Ekiti West Local Council of the state.

The Commandant of the Corps, Brigadier-General Joe Komolafe (Retd), also paraded three other suspects arrested by the operatives for alleged breaking and entry into a residential house located at Tinuola area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The suspects, who are currently detained at the Command’s office along the Old Iyin road, Ado-Ekiti, are Rufai Isiaka, 26, Buhari Ibrahim, 30, and Moniru Yahaya, 30.

They were apprehended by the residents and later handed over to the operatives of the corps. Komolafe said operatives at the early hour of the day received a distress call from a member of the public that some suspected criminals had broken into a residential house in the area and stole a pumping machine installed in one of the houses .

The Amotekun Corps Commander said the octogenarian and another suspect were arrested by the operatives while vandalising equipment belonging to the Water Cooperation in the ancient community.

He said operatives in recent times recorded some successes, including the rescue of chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Paul Omotosho, and the arrest of several criminals disturbing the residents of the state.

He urged residents of the state not to hesitate in providing useful information that would assist the corps in its intelligence and surveillance operations that would assist in ridding the State of criminal elements. Komolafe, however, expressed gratitude to the state governor for providing a conducive atmosphere for operatives to function.
