Community leaders in Anambra State, under the auspices of the Association of Past Presidents-General of Anambra State (APPAS) has named its ultramodern state secretariat in Awka, after the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oilserv Group, Sir Emeka Okwuosa.

Sir Okwuosa, whose philanthropic gestures had seen thousands of Anambra youths empowered and employed, is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation (SEOF) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital (DIOMH), a signature project of SEOF.
Addressing newsmen in Enugu, the leadership of APPAS, Mazi Omife I. Omife, said naming the APPAS state secretariat after Okwuosa, was their modest way of honouring the man.

According to him, the honoree has equally made numerous contributions to the development of Anambra State, with particular regard to numerous industries that created job opportunities for Anambra youths.

“You will all agree with us that Chief Emeka Okwuosa’s gesture is deserving of the highest level of APPAS recognition and appreciation.

“APPAS decision to name the proposed secretariat after Chief Emeka Okwuosa is not only in furtherance of a deserving honour and appreciation to him but also to serve as inspiration to other Anambrarians of means to identify with the development of Anambra State,” Omife said.

especially in the area of industrial and community development as a way of partnering with the government in the socio-economic development of the state,” Omife said.

The group commended Anambra State government led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for ensuring that every community has elected town union executive, saying that the ones conducted so far had been generally peaceful.

It also called on the state government to always work with its leadership in resolving misunderstandings in communities.
According to him, APPAS does its best trying to work with every government in power and giving them direction to ensure peaceful reigns.

“So, every sitting governor that is worth its onions will always reach out to APPAS before taking decisions that affect any community, particularly during the time of misunderstanding.

“To a large extent, the government is not mainly responsible for what happens in communities. What usually happens is that some people who want to have full grip on their community leadership, will always use their positions in government to subvert certain processes,” he stated.
