ANPMP Edo Central Zone elects Andrew Eigbedion as zonal chairman

The Association of Nigeria Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP), Edo Central Zone, inaugurated a new executive committee following a successful election held on March 7, 2024, at the Lumen Christi Pastoral Event Hall, Uromi.


The newly elected officials were sworn in by Dr. T.A.E Ikhuoriah, Chairman of the Electoral Committee. Dr. Ikhuoriah congratulated the members and expressed his hope that they would “raise the bar” for the Association, according to a statement.

Leading the new team is Dr. Andrew Eigbedion, who takes the position of Zonal Chairman. Several accomplished colleagues join Dr. Eigbedion: Dr. Jossy Ebelechika (Zonal Vice Chairman), Dr. Friday Akponovwe (Zonal Secretary), Dr. Bernard Osazuwa (Zonal Assistant Secretary), Dr. Mark Ogbiti (Zonal Treasurer), and Dr. Timothy Iyayi (Zonal PRO).

Amongst those that sent in their congratulatory messages very early is Dr Matthew Mendel Ugboya, the immediate Past Chairman of the Edo Central NMA and a current Assistant Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association, National. He expressed his delight at the emergence of the new Executives and wished them well.

Dr. Imuetinyan G.O., State Chairman of ANPMP, Edo State congratulated the new leadership and expressed his optimism about the Association’s future contribution to Edo State healthcare system.

He also commended the outgone Executive Committee for their service and urged the new team to build upon their achievements.


In a message, Dr. Udoka Imoisili, Edo NMA Chairman, acknowledged Dr. Eigbedion’s accomplishments and expressed her excitement at his emergence. She expressed her hopes that this new Zonal Executives will bring a new vigour in the affairs of Medical Doctors and the Healthcare Delivery System in the Edo Central Senatorial Zone

Dr. Kayode Adesola, National President of ANPMP also sent his well wishes to the new Zonal Executives.

Dr. Adesola recalled his first meeting with Dr. Eigbedion at the 2018 Royal College of General Practitioners of the United Kingdom (RCGP) Annual Primary Care Meeting in Glasgow, Scotland.

Praising Dr. Eigbedion’s “robust ideas on improved healthcare delivery in our Country,” Dr. Adesola stated, “Dr Andrew Eigbedion came across to me as a fine gentleman with robust ideas on improved healthcare delivery in our country and other contemporary issues. I wish him and his new Zonal Executives the very best as they strive to deliver on the mandate bestowed upon them.
