APC National Secretary slams Adeleke, PDP over propaganda stories

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has slammed Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke for coming up with propaganda stories about him.

Basiru made this allegation against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Adeleke while dismissing the purported rift between him and Osun state former governor, Gboyega Oyetola.

The APC National Secretary claimed it is just propaganda from the opposition because the Adeleke-led administration has nothing to offer.

“The truth is that some of those stories you have been reading are being concocted by the rudderless propaganda machinery of the Adeleke-led government because they are jobless,” Basiru said.

“The stories do not gel because when you even talk of good stories, they must have listenability. I am the National Secretary of the party while former governor, Gboyega Oyetola is a minister.

“We have serious business to do than to reduce ourselves to the level of inanities. Then secondly, what is the issue they are talking about? They are talking about the 2026 gubernatorial election.

“Our party is a party of leadership. As of today, there are two former governors in our party, Baba Bisi Akande and Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola. They are my leaders. So, you can not say that I’m fighting my leaders.”

Speaking with newsmen at a media parley in Osogbo on Friday, Basiru also omitted Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from the list of former governors of Osun state.

Basiru was then asked why he failed to mention Aregbesola’s name alongside Akande and Oyetola but he replied, saying: “Go and ask him which party he belongs to.

“I am the National Secretary of APC and I know that we have done a series of elections and he has never participated in any since 2022 in the state. I don’t know which party he belongs to.”

Basiru also seized the opportunity to refute reports of a rift between himself and Oyetola who is now the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

Reports had earlier emerged that Basiru and Oyetola have been at loggerheads with each other over the 2026 governorship election in Osun.

“Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola sent Salah greetings to me after which I called him and we spoke for about ten minutes, we also cracked banters,” Basiru said.
