Around and about Nollywood in one week

Some personalities in Nollywood have been in the news in the last one week. Here is a pick of those who have continued to be in the news…

Chidi ‘Scar’ Mokeme Is Still Trending
If Chidi Mokeme’s over the top performance in Shanty Town, the new series on Netfix has engaged fans since the series was released, the revelation on why he has been off the radar for a while now is likely to also engage fans.

The renowned actor who delightfully lived the role of ‘Scar’ in the series that was directed by Demiji Ajibola had revealed on a television programme recently that he took a short break off Nollywood because he had Bell’s Palsy, which is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face.

Speaking on the programme, Mokeme said, “I came down with something called Bell’s Palsy; it was the first time I was hearing it. Bell’s Palsy comes like a stroke and it’s something that affects one side of your face and sort of gives you a drop. So, as an actor, if you come down with something that affects your face, you can imagine what I must have been going through that time.”

Although Mokeme didn’t say if the condition has been medically addressed, he noted that he stayed off Nollywood, because he had to take time off to try and sort out the problem.

“So, in the meantime, I just focused on doing my other business,” he added.

Asked elsewhere if he is back on the beat, he snapped and replied, “I am back.”
