Media personality conferred as Bashorun of Ile-Isoya

Media entrepreneur and public relations expert, Oladapo Sofowora, has been conferred with the traditional title of Bashorun Ile-Isoya Ife by His Royal Majesty, Oba Muriana Adedinni, the Asoya of Ile-Isoya, Osun State.

The installation, held at the Asoya’s palace, coincided with the monarch’s 15th coronation anniversary, drawing dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community leaders from within and outside the state.

The ceremony featured traditional rites, blessings, and the presentation of symbolic regalia including beads, a staff, and a certificate confirming his status as Bashorun.

Speaking after the installation, Sofowora, who is also the founder, Rudder Blade Global Company and publisher of Cityspy Newspaper, described the honour as a call to greater service, pledging continued commitment to the development of Yorubaland and Nigeria. He expressed gratitude to the Asoya and the people of Ile-Isoya for the recognition.

Sofowora, a London School of Journalism alumnus, was in 2024 honoured with the UNESCO Children of African Descent Award in New York for his advocacy against human trafficking and contributions to youth development.
Following his installation, he paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who congratulated him and urged him to uphold the Omoluabi values of integrity and service.
