Arthur Eze emerges Azman varsity chancellor, donate N200m

Azman University, one of the newly-licensed private institutions in Nigeria, has appointed Chief Arthur Eze as Chancellor. This is as the business mogul donated N200 million for the development of the school.

Besides, the university also inaugurated its 18-member Board of Trustees (BoT) and Governing Council to pilot the affairs of the institution, which is set to commence full operation in the next academic session.

Inaugurating the BoT and council members at the permanent site of the institution in Yargaya village, Dawakin-Kudu, Kano, the Founder/President, Azman Organisation, Abdulmanaf Sarina, said the appointment of Eze as chancellor was considered in recognition of his humanitarian support to educational development in Nigeria.
 
Sarina, who is also the university’s pro-chancellor, urged the appointees to bring their wealth of experience to bear in building a world-class citadel of learning.

The pro-chancellor added that he was motivated to establish Azman university provide access to quality education and complement government’s commitment to quality education in the country.


“Quality is our watchword at Azman University. We shall ensure that we have quality staff and academics as well as quality students and education. All conditions and requirements set by National Universities Commission (NUC) have been met. Therefore, we are fully ready to kick-off,” Sarina noted.

Former Vice Chancellor, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Prof. Mohammad Yauza Bello, tasked the BoT and council members to demonstrate exceptional leadership in managing the university.

The university administrator, who expressed confidence in new members, urged them to prepare to multi-task and ensure cost-effectiveness in running the institution. In his acceptance speech, the new BoT Chairman, Ado Ma’aji, applauded the founder for finding them worthy of the appointment, while pledging members’ dedication to attain the vision and mission of the founder.

Other members of the BoT include Sarki Ibrahim Makama, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, Prof. M.S. Haruna, Amb. Mannir Liman, Prof. Oguga Ikpeze, Dr. Bashir Aliyu and Alh. Mustapha Yunusa (secretary).
