Can you share some insights into the challenges you faced while making it?
As a gospel musician in Africa, one of the main challenges we face is limited mainstream recognition. Gospel music often struggles to gain significant exposure in mainstream media and industry platforms, which can hinder our reach and impact. It can be challenging to compete with other genres that receive more attention. And these factors often play a major role in the album creation process, songwriting and production.

Financial constraints are a common challenge in the music industry. How do these challenges affect gospel musicians specifically?
Financial constraints are definitely a hurdle for gospel musicians in Africa. Limited financial resources hinder our ability to fully express our artistic vision. It can be challenging to fund our projects, record quality music, and organise impactful events. We often rely on the support of our community, churches and partnerships to overcome these financial challenges.

Gospel musicians are known for their ministry through music. How do you balance your ministry and the pursuit of commercial success in the music industry?
Balancing ministry and commercial success can be a delicate process. As gospel musicians, our primary goal is to minister through music and spread a message of hope and faith. However, we also need to navigate the demands of the music industry, which may prioritize commercial viability. It’s essential to stay true to our message and purpose while finding ways to reach a broader audience without compromising our values.

Have you encountered any societal stereotypes or misconceptions as a gospel musician? How do you overcome them?
Yes, societal stereotypes can be a challenge for gospel musicians. Some people may have misconceptions or pigeonhole us as artists solely focused on religious music. Overcoming these stereotypes involves showcasing the versatility and relevance of gospel music. Through our music and actions, we aim to challenge those stereotypes and demonstrate the transformative power of gospel music in different aspects of life.

Despite the challenges, gospel music has a profound impact on individuals and communities. How do you stay motivated and continue to inspire others through your music?
The impact of gospel music is truly remarkable. It is the source of my motivation and inspiration. Knowing that my music can uplift someone’s spirit, offer comfort, or bring about positive change keeps me motivated. I also find encouragement from the support of my listeners and the messages they share about how my music has touched their lives. It’s a reminder of the purpose and calling I have as a gospel musician.
