The Chairman of the Benin Art Fair, Mr. Osahon Okunbo, on Saturday emphasized that promoting and supporting the arts has the potential to foster social cohesion across communities and transcend geographical boundaries.

Okunbo, who also serves as the Managing Director of the Abuja-based Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments, expressed his gratitude in a speech titled “Embracing the Transformative Power of Art,” delivered at the 2024 Benin Art Fair.

He said, *“It is an immense honor to be recognized as the Chairman of The Benin Art Fair. Being part of this historic moment is a privilege I deeply cherish.

“Art has always been a passion of mine—a medium through which we can express our deepest emotions, thoughts, and dreams. It is a powerful form of communication that transcends boundaries and unites us, regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs.

“The Benin Art Fair is a celebration of creativity, talent, and innovation. It provides a platform for artists to showcase their work, inspire others, and spark meaningful conversations.

“Through art, we can explore new perspectives, challenge the status quo, and envision a brighter, more inclusive future.

“I encourage each of you to immerse yourselves in the beauty and diversity of the artworks on display, engage with the artists and their stories, and support the vibrant art community that enriches our lives.

“Together, let us embrace the transformative power of art, celebrate its profound impact on our world, and reaffirm our commitment to fostering creativity and imagination in all its forms.”*

With these remarks, Okunbo urged attendees to champion the arts as a vital force for unity, progress, and social cohesion.
