A university teacher, Prof. Babajide Elemo has emphasised the importance of academic discipline and institutional support for sustainable growth.
Elemo, a professor of biochemistry at Lagos State University (LASU) highlighted the necessity of self-discipline and moral integrity in academic pursuits.

In his valedictory lecture titled: “From foundation to future: An odyssey of a biochemist’s four decades at the Lagos State University,” Elemo expressed concern over the declining adherence to these values within the academic community, particularly among senior faculty members, and called for a renewed commitment to mentorship and ethical conduct.

He also canvassed enhanced funding and collaboration with the state government to establish an industrial park and technology incubation centre within the campus.

Offering advice to students, Elemo emphasised the importance of knowledge acquisition over mere certification, and encouraged meaningful relationships with lecturers and peers.

Reflecting on his tenure at the university, Elemo said the institution provided a conducive atmosphere that fostered his personal and professional growth.
