The Isama Ajie of Asaba, Chucks Nduka-Eze, has said the 13th Asagba of Asaba, the late Obi Chike Edozien, would be remembered for having national figures of great repute in his cabinet.

Nduka-Eze, a legal practitioner, stated this, yesterday, while speaking to journalists on the impactful life and reign of His Royal Majesty, Asagba (Nna Agu), who joined his ancestors at the age of 100 years.

The Isama Ajie noted that some of the cabinet members that made the Asagba’s reign thick included ex-President, General Ibrahim Babangida; Lt. Gen Jeremiah Useni (rtd); late Ideh Ahaba; Sunny Odogwu; esteemed economist and Ojiba Ahaba, the late Prof. Emma Edozien; Nuclear Physicist and Akwue Ahaba, late Prof. Philip Onianwa and the Izoma of Asaba and former minister, Philip Asiodu, among others.

He said that the late Edozien virtually ascended the throne as Asagba when Asaba became the capital of Delta State, pointing out that the monarch would be remembered for the communal and ethnic cohesion he brought to Asaba, with various ethnic groups living peacefully and contributing to the development of the capital city.

Nduka-Eze maintained that the history of Nigeria would not be complete without a reference to Asaba, which was once the colonial headquarters of the Royal Niger Company, and, by implication, Nigeria’s first administrative headquarters, adding that Asaba made giant strides under the watch and direction of the late Asagba.
