Babangida rates NIPR high at 60 as Niger urges partnership on habitable environment

Ibrahim Babangida

Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) has ranked the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) high in performance since its establishment six decades ago.

He gave the pass mark when NIPR’s National President NIPR,  Dr. Ike Neiliaku led the governing council of the institute on a courtesy visit to the ex-leader’s Minna home in Niger State at the weekend.

Babangida, who symbolically cut the institute’s diamond anniversary cake alongside the governing council members, said he was impressed by the significant impact the organisation has made in all the spheres of human endeavours in Nigeria, enjoining it to sustain the tempo for the betterment of the country.

Earlier, Neiliaku submitted that the institute has transformed from officers to a management function, adding that the dynamics have changed, as Public Relations (PR) is now a leadership foundation, hence the increase in values of public relations strategy for effective communication.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris Malagi, represented by Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Ndace, assured of a sustainable partnership with the NIPR in achieving the national value chain policy of the Federal Government.

The team also paid a similar call on Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago at the Government House, after a road walk to mark its 60th celebration with the theme:

“Safeguarding the Environment of Nigeria” in Minna..

The team lauded Babangida for signing the 1990 Decree that chartered NIPR.

Bago, who spoke through the Head of Service (HOS), Abubakar Salisu, reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting a habitable environment, hence the ongoing one-million tree planting campaign in the state.

The governor restated that Niger was embarking on an agricultural revolution to ensure food security in the country, and therefore appealed to NIPR to assist the state in propagating the New Niger Agenda.
