The Babcock University Students Association (BUSA) has unveiled an application, BUSA app, aimed at ensuring better engagement among students.

Tailored and fitted for every Babcock student, the promoters of the app said it was created to solve a plethora of issues within the student body.

It was learnt that the idea was borne by the institution’s Director of Public Relations, Azeez Olaoluwa and Ifeagwazi Chukwuebuka in conjunction with other Babcock students in the Information and Technology (IT) space under the company name “Light”.

Olaoluwa said: “I must say that this project is really God’s own project just like Babcock University, which is also known as God’s own university. Initially, we had a lot of ups and downs as regards funding. We wrote to a number of companies for sponsorship and partnership regarding this project.

“When the Director of the Iperu campus of the institution almost gave up on the project, some students under the startup company “Light” found out that we had the same idea, fine tuned it and then integrated it. That is what birthed the BUSA app that was launched recently.”

He highlighted some of the issues the application is expected to solve to include the issue of communication. With the BUSA app, students will receive news of happenings in both campuses of the university.

“For a social institution like Babcock University, getting tickets for events either major or minor can be done on the app. The app will also help students with the issue of scheduling, as timetable for classes and reading can be imputed into the app, just as students can also add their assignments and other things on the app.

“There is also the map feature for the new students who do not know their way around the school,” Olaoluwa added.

He explained that the development of the app commenced with an intensive planning stage, where the core objectives, target audience and functionality of the application were defined.

“Extensive market research and user feedback played a vital role in shaping the vision, ensuring that the app addressed the needs of its intended users. Following the planning stage, the BUSA app entered the design phase, blending user experience principles with captivating aesthetics,” he added.
