Bandits abduct dozens from Kaduna primary school

Armed gunmen

Armed gunmen, suspected to be bandits, have reportedly invaded the LEA Primary School in Kuriga town, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, this morning and abducted dozens of pupils.

The exact number of individuals abducted remains unclear, with local estimates ranging from dozens to around 100 students and teachers.

The attack, according to sources, occurred shortly after the morning assembly at around 8:20 am on Thursday.

The incident unfolded a year after the relocation of the school’s junior and secondary sections to the town centre due to insecurity concerns, abandoning their former school building located outside the town.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by either the Kaduna State government or the State Police Command regarding the incident.

The Kaduna school abduction came about a week after suspected jihadist fighters kidnapped more than 200 internally displaced people in Ngala, Borno state.
